My name is Diana Carney, although my given name is Diana, I prefer to be called Diane. I can’t really explain why, it was just something that naturally occurred about 25 years ago and stuck.

I have five children, three boys and two girls, and six grandchildren that live mostly in Utah. I love being with my family and they are my source of grounding and true heartfelt joy. My family is very important to me. My older two sons have special needs and I have been fortunate to have experienced the world from their perspective and seeing the challenges they have overcome.

I was somewhat of a rebel growing up and as a result learned a lot of valuable lessons. I was married at 14 years old and had my first child at 15 years old. The path I chose brought more obstacles. I learned that even though we might do things differently we can create anything we want and be successful no matter what might be in front of or behind us.

I graduated with my high school class despite having a child and needing to attend night school. I did not decide to go to college until after my fifth child was born and I lost my job because I experienced medical complications from the birth. It was at that point, I decided that I wanted to help others. My experience of getting married and starting a family so young, in addition to finding out how strongly I felt about the injustice of being punished for something that was not my fault, ultimately led me to this career. I wanted to help others find their voice and to celebrate their strengths.

Fast forward to now, after taking many years to complete my education and my 14 years of experience working with families and children to improve their life circumstances, I am excited to add clinical social work to one of the ways I can serve.

I believe strongly that trauma and attachment style play a role in our day to day functioning. My goal is to create a safe space for exploration and through clinically tested evidence-based interventions help people heal, alleviate their symptoms, and improve their life so they enjoy more of their life moment by moment. I have a strong interest in depression, anxiety, and recovery from abusive relationships.

I received my undergraduate degree in Family and Human Development emphasizing family and community services in 2001 from Utah State University and then graduated from Utah State University in 2017 with a Master’s in Social Work. I am also a certified Life Coach from the Robbins -Madanes Strategic Interventions Life Coaching Model.

Diane is a part-time therapist and offers therapy hours to accommodate the schedules of people who work. She enjoys integrating her clinical skills background with life coaching and notices an enhanced experience of overall health and improvement for the people she works with.
